It's pretty ironic and sad how our priorities occasionally back-fire. A lot of parents I know will work from dawn till dusk each day to provide the greatest future for their children, yet by doing this they may be hurting their children more than assisting them. You see, monetary security is important, but it isn't the most important issue in a kid's development. Children need constant interaction, both with other kids and their parents. This is, after all, how they learn and develop in the first years of their lives - some-thing that will affect them for the rest of their days. The first time I purchased my children audio books on cd was when I was going on a business trip for some weeks. I had been reading to my little girl from the same book every night for a week or two, and we were around halfway finished with it. She was very sad to see me go, and I knew that she would really miss that tale. On a whim, I went to the neighborhood audio book store and found out that I could get a copy of it. At first, she was a tad nervous about listening to the children audio book. She told me that she wished to hear me reading it, not some tape recorder. Nevertheless, when she sussed out that I was not going to stay it doesn't matter how much she begged and pleaded, she relented and decided to listen to the kids audio books.

She actually truly enjoyed it. I like to think that she still likes the way I read more than she enjoys children books on cd, but I bet it is a close-call. The children audio book readers are awesome. My diction isn't bad, and I'm a pretty dramatic reader, but these are true trained performers. Your average run of the mill father just simply can't compete! They know exactly how to read kids books to make them exciting and engaging, keeping your kids on the edge til the very last page. Although my little girl is still unhappy when I leave town, the kids books on tape make my trip just a bit easier on her. Both of us are very pleased about that.
