A Young Gentleman Drinks Irresponsibly, Gets Motivated To Get Treatment For Alcohol Dependency And Depression, And Enhances His Life

Ralph began drinking abusively when he was in the tenth grade. Fortunately for him, although he drank excessively when he was a teenager and a young adult, when he got beyond the age of thirty he almost always drank in moderation.

After he completed his education he eventually got a job at a local glass manufacturer where he applied himself and worked his way up from stock person, to office assistant, to purchasing assistant, to purchasing agent. Unlike his other positions, as the purchasing manager he often took existing vendors and potential vendors to lunch and to a variety of sporting events.

Though it was not written in concrete, meeting with existing vendors and potential vendors frequently involved circumstances in which alcohol was present. In truth, over the past thirteen months, Ralph had begun to significantly increase his social and his work-related drinking. This has led to quite a predicament. Namely, the more successful he became as a purchasing agent, the more heavily he began to drink.

In fact, it did not take long at all before Ralph's excessive and careless drinking started to adversely affect his work efficiency, his health, his relationships, his mental health, and the money in his savings account. At one point, Ralph, in point of fact, started to be concerned about his abusive drinking and questioned whether his alcohol related issues were alcoholism signs. To make things worse, his increasing feelings of depression also made him question whether he was becoming an alcohol dependent individual. In short, Ralph obviously needed to learn more about the facts about alcohol abuse and the signs of alcoholism.

So Ralph used his intelligence, called his health care practitioner, and scheduled an appointment for a physical examination. The next week when he saw his physician, Ralph regrettably learned that he was addicted to alcohol. His doctor informed Ralph that he needed to get alcohol detoxification and alcohol treatment for his alcoholism and that he also needed to get a medical evaluation regarding his depression. In short, Ralph needed treatment for his alcoholism and depression.

His physician recommended to Ralph that he request a two-month leave of absence from work and get enrolled in a quality in-patient alcohol rehab program where his depression could also be treated. This is exactly what Ralph did. Fortunately after his treatment for alcoholism and for depression, he felt like a new person. In actual fact, now that he was living an alcohol-free life he hardly ever got depressed and he now knew how to more productively and efficiently manage his finances, his job, his health, and his relationships.

To no one's surprise, the most difficult test Ralph met was at work. To be more specific, he still took his existing vendors and potential vendors to various sporting events and to lunch, but after his alcohol treatment he managed to refrain from drinking while entertaining his clients.

It may be noted that Ralph also learned that none of his existing vendors or potential vendors thought any less of him because of his abstinence. Instead, he found out that his existing vendors and potential vendors respected him for maintaining his convictions.

After Ralph went through alcohol rehabilitation he found out that if he refrained from drinking, all of the other significant parts of his life would be enhanced. At times, it may be noted, Ralph missed drinking, but the better work performance, health, finances, and the better relationships he experienced more than made up for his craving for alcohol.
